While I spent a large portion of the (luxuriously long!) weekend cleaning and outside, I did put something together last night that I’m proud of and excited about.
Lots of measuring, putting together pieces and constructing hinges
The outside covered, the inside has yet to be lined - hinge structure still visible
This small box is hinged at both the lid and the front panel and is designed to fit 4×6 panels or photos. It’s covered with a celery green shantung silk bookcloth and I’m going to line the inside with a heavy printmaking paper that can stand up to a lot of use, but will also cushion photos, or whatever else might end up being stored here.
In addition to the usual (ie. mulling over the big picture, the major issues in life, the giant all-consuming concerns, and the thoughts that keep us up nights), this week should see a fair amount of sewing, getting a few new journals finished, and a couple of new printing and book projects that have just landed on my shoulders. Life is lucky right now.
Last Night I Dreamed of Chickens
by Jack Prelutsky
Last night I dreamed of chickens,
there were chickens everywhere,
they were standing on my stomach,
they were nesting in my hair,
they were pecking at my pillow,
they were hopping on my head,
they were ruffling up their feathers
as they raced about my bed.
They were on the chairs and tables,
they were on the chandeliers,
they were roosting in the corners,
they were clucking in my ears,
there were chickens, chickens, chickens
for as far as I could see…
when I woke today, I noticed
there were eggs on top of me.
