So, on Sunday night I had an idea right before I went to bed. To make sure I didn’t immediately forget it, I wrote it down and also told Matt about it.
Not one to sit still for long, yesterday morning I woke up and got to work.
Not only is our apartment filled with paper, but lots of that paper is just plain gorgeous. For a long time, I’ve wanted to find a way to combine some of my decorative papers with letterpress cards. These are the result!
A debossed (no ink) square is letterpress printed on the front of each card, creating a recessed area. Then, a 1″ square of Japanese paper or a portion of a map with adhesive applied to the back is tipped in to the space (set down flush in to the surface).

I’ve created blank, thank you, and congratulations cards with the Japanese papers and also sets of thank you cards from the maps. Each card is different, since the squares are from different sections of the papers…and I just love that! They are all up in our brand new store – enjoy!
I also wanted to share “The November Angels” by Jane Hirshfield, and then I think I’ll have to dig up some really stellar Wendell Berry for Thanksgiving!

Brilliant! These are beautiful, Maggie. And such a great way to get the paper onto the cards. I may just have to pop over to that new store soon.
