Did someone say personalized letterpress holiday cards?

Just a reminder that there’s still plenty of time to order personalized holiday cards! Maybe those little snow angels are calling your name, or champagne bubbles…or Orion in the winter sky?

Speaking of holiday cards, my Grandfather Bud drew a Christmas card every year that he would have printed and send to friends and family. Each year, the scene on the card would be a fanciful version of something that had happened during the previous year. One year, our family was ice skating on Kohler’s Pond, another my Grandmother Maggie was nearly invisible except for her winter hat and legs under a stack of gifts and shopping bags.

GB kept all of his originals in a binder, and those of us who received them kept them just as conscientiously. I’ll scan a few to share here – they are wonderful scenes and memories, and no doubt a key to the reason my mom, and my brother and sister and I are all pretty avid drawers.

I think holiday correspondence is one of the sweetest traditions we have as a culture. Of course we should remember to write and keep in touch more than once a year, but it’s nice that there’s one time when it’s not only kind of expected, but fun! Which reminds me…time to get to work on this year’s Campbell-Raw family card! Here’s a peek at last year’s, to tide you over.
