The peacefulness of an ordinary Sunday

Since I threw my hat into the ring as a letterpress printer, I’ve had several inquiries about business cards, mixed in with invitations, cards, and stationery, and I just finished this batch up this week.

These are for a very good friend and (now former!) co-worker, Zoë Block and her business partner, Elyse Sara, who specialize in fantastic dessert catering here in New York. Zoë makes the most incredible cupcakes I’ve ever seen, with airy, flavorful frostings and perfect details, including fresh flowers and blended colors, and Elyse’s forte is a huge variety of bread puddings! They are getting their own business up and running and I was thrilled to be asked to design and print their first batch of business cards.

These are 3″ square cards, printed on Crane’s 100% cotton fluorescent white Lettra paper. The simple design and green-on-green color scheme works wonderfully with letterpress, since everything needs precise lines and careful registration (how everything aligns).

In the meantime, I’m also gearing up for my first official week of full-time printing and binding! I’ll have some new wedding pieces to share shortly (menus, save the dates, etc.!), and am adding to Etsy all the time these days. Keep your eyes peeled for lots of new work there, as well!

“Sometimes I have loved the peacefulness of an ordinary Sunday. It is like standing in a newly planted garden after a warm rain. You can feel the silent and invisible life.”
- from Marilynne Robinson’s brillant and Pulitzer Prize winning novel Gilead
